How to turn a recession into investment opportunities

How could investors de-risk their portfolios and minimise the impact amidst the looming recession?

In their first article published on The Fifth Person, Stephen Davies, the founder and CEO of Javelin Wealth Management, and Wei Hern Goh, an investment analyst of Javelin Wealth Management, share three ways investors could turn the much-dreaded recession into positive investment opportunities:

  1. Preserve capital through the use of safe havens such as cash and cash-yielding assets;
  2. Generate returns from uncorrelated strategies that have produced positive returns over a three-year period with less volatility;
  3. Invest in areas that have been oversold, or which could benefit from the current macro environment, such as natural resources, bonds and REITs.
